Contract renewal for GTFs with contracts terminating in Spring semester

1. By March 31, GTFs will be sent a letter (either by mail or email).

There will be two types of letters:

  • for those that have positive formal classroom observations, have completed    the Portfolio of Professional Experience and have received positive formal evaluation responses from students, and completed their duties in the English Plaza, Open Campus and other responsibilities stated in the Professional Development System, notification that GTI is considering offering a contract renewal by July 31 and a response would be required to this offer by September 30.
  • for those that have not performed positively in any or all of the following:      formal classroom observations, Portfolio of Professional Experience and formal evaluation responses from students, duties in the English Plaza, Open Campus and other responsibilities stated in the Professional Development System, notification that GTI is not considering offering a contract unless performance in any or all of these area(s) has noticeably improved.

In addition to letter ii. the area(s) will be stipulated and will be discussed in person with the Director, with recommendations provided by the Associate Directors. The GTF receiving letter ii. will have until July 31 of that academic year to improve performance in the areas noted.

2. By July 31, one semester prior to the contract termination, the GTF in question will be sent a letter (either by mail or email). There will be two types of letters:

  • for those that have positive formal classroom observations, have completed the Portfolio of Professional Experience and have received positive formal evaluation responses from students, and completed their duties in the English Plaza, Open Campus and other responsibilities stated in the Professional Development System, notification that GTI is offering a contract renewal for 1.5 or 2 years (and a response would be required to respond to this offer to the Director by September 30) by filling out document III. below. If a 1.5 year contract length is selected, that will be the final contract the GTF will have with GTI.
  • for those that have not performed positively since receiving the August 31 letter, or have not improved in any or all of the following: formal classroom observations, Portfolio of Professional Experience and formal evaluation responses from students, duties in the English Plaza, Open Campus and other responsibilities stated in the Professional Development System, will be notified that GTI will not offer a contract renewal.

In addition to these letters, the Director will meet individually with each GTF when the decision is made to re-contract or not.
